Reports, snapshots and automation

Advanced 6 min

Print the household report as a PDF, compare monthly snapshots, export CSV, JSON and calendar files, hand tables to other apps and build households with the API and MCP.

1. The household report

Open Report (or press Ctrl+P anywhere). The report collects key figures, the cash-flow chart, all findings, deadlines in the next 90 days, subscriptions, contracts with their notice dates, loans with plan A and B, the replacement plan and the summaries of your decisions. Print or save as PDF opens the browser's print dialog; choose Save as PDF to keep a copy. Only the report is printed, not the workspace.

2. Snapshots over time

On the Dashboard, Save snapshot of this month stores the key figures (income, fixed costs, planned spending, free cash, subscriptions per year, utilities, debt). One snapshot per month is kept; saving again in the same month updates it. Comparisons over time charts the snapshots and compares any of them with today. Explain the change in free cash runs the Percentage & Ratio Calculator on the two values and shows the formula.

3. Exports

The Export menu offers:

  • Calendar of upcoming deadlines (.ics) with your reminder setting;
  • CSV files for Transactions, Budget vs. actual by month, Subscriptions, Deadlines and Findings;
  • Key figures and findings (JSON) for your own scripts;
  • the Cash-flow chart as SVG or PNG.

File → Save project file writes the whole household as .ledgerly.json, including cached tool results. File → Share link… creates an /app#project=… link without the cached results — anyone with the link gets a copy, so share it only with people you trust.

4. Hand tables to other apps

When another premium app accepts tables, the Export menu shows Open transactions in another app…, Open subscriptions in another app… and Open deadlines in another app… (and Open key figures (JSON) in another app… for JSON). The data travels through your browser only. The other way round, a table handed to Ledgerly opens the bank import dialog pre-filled, and nothing is imported until you confirm.

5. API and MCP

Every tool Ledgerly uses is available on this host for scripts and AI agents: POST /api/v1/tools/<tool>/calculate, the OpenAPI description at /openapi.json and the MCP endpoint at /mcp. Help → API & MCP for this household… shows a ready curl request built from your own data.

An agent can also build a whole household: the format is documented at /project.schema.json. Open the result with /app#project=<base64url JSON> or as a .ledgerly.json file.

6. Keyboard and accessibility

Press ? for all shortcuts: Ctrl+S save, Ctrl+O open, Ctrl+Z/Ctrl+Y undo and redo, Ctrl+Enter check-up, Alt+1 … Alt+9 desks, N add an item, / search. Single-key shortcuts can be switched off in that dialog. All menus work with the arrow keys and every dialog closes with Esc.
